Let \(E_j\) be the eigenvalues outside \([-2,2]\) of a Jacobi matrix with \(a_{n}-1\in l^{2}\) and \(b_{n}\rightarrow 0\) (\(n\rightarrow \infty \)), and \(\mu ^{\prime }\) the density of the absolutely continuous part of the spectral measure for the vector \(\delta _{1}.\) The author shows that if \(b_{n}\in l^{4},b_{n+1}-b_{n}\in l^{2}\), then \(\sum_{j}(| E_{j}| -2)^{\frac{5}{2}}=\infty \) and if \(b_{n}\in l^{4},b_{n+1}-b_{n}\in l^{2}\), then \(\int_{-2}^{2}\ln (\mu ^{\prime }(x))(4-x^{2})^{\frac{3}{2}}dx=-\infty .\) He also shows that if \(a_{n}-1\in l^{3},b_{n}\in l^{3}\), then the above integral is finite if and only if \(a_{n+1}-a_{n}\in l^{2},b_{n+1}-b_{n}\in l^{2}\). He proves these and other results by deriving sum rules in which the absolutely continuous part of the spectral measure and the eigenvalues appear on opposite sides of the equation.
