Let \(M\) denote a compact surface with boundary components \(\partial_i M\), \(i=1,2, \dots ,n\). For each \(i\), let \(\delta_i\in \pi_1 (M)\) correspond to the generator of \(\pi_1(\partial_i M)\), and let \(t_i\in \mathbb{C}\). The relative \(\text{SL}(2,\mathbb{C})\) character variety of \(M\) with boundary data \(t_i\), \(i=1,2, \dots ,n\), is the moduli space of representations \(\rho: \pi_1(M) \to \text{SL}(2,\mathbb{C})\), where \(\text{tr}(\rho(\delta_i))=t_i\). If \(M\) is either a one-holed torus or a four-holed sphere, the relative \(\text{SL}(2,\mathbb{C})\) character varieties are described by cubic surfaces \(\mathcal{M}\) in \(\mathbb{C}^3\) of the form \(x^2+y^2+z^4-xyz=Px+Qy+Rz+S\), and the mapping class group of \(M\), which is ``essentially'' \(\text{PGL}(2,\mathbb{Z})\), acts on this moduli space by polynomial automorphisms. In this paper, the authors compute the homology \(H_*(\mathcal{M})\) of \(\mathcal{M}\) and its intersection form, and describe the action of \(\text{PGL}(2,\mathbb{Z})\) on \(H_*(\mathcal{M})\).
