The author introduces and studies a multishift structure in a Hilbert space. Recall that a finite family \(\{v_0,\dots, v_d\}\), \(d\geq 1\), of isometries of a Hilbert space \(H\) is called a multiple multishift if there exists a subspace \(E\subseteq H\) such that the family \(\{v_{\alpha_1}\cdots v_{\alpha_k} E: k\geq 0\), \(0\leq \alpha_1, \dots,\alpha_k\leq d\}\) of subspaces is an orthogonal basis of subspaces in \(H\). It is shown that the structure of a multishift in a Hilbert space is a noncommutative analog of the one-sided shift operator. Also, invariant subspaces under the multishift are described and it is proved that an arbitrary invariant subspace is the orthogonal sum of finitely or countably many elementary invariant subspaces, exactly as the invariant subspaces for which the corresponding wandering subspaces are one-dimensional. Finally, a theorem on the factorization into an inner and an outer factor is established for operators commuting with the multishift.
