Noncommutative cyclic covers and maximal orders on surfaces (Q2577010)

The author studies orders on algebraic surfaces, that is, coherent subalgebras contained in some central simple algebra over the function field. Using the theory of invertible bimodules, he developes a theory of cyclic coverings in this noncommutative situation. These are, under suitable assumptions, coherent subalgebras of cyclic central simple algebras over the function field. As an appication, explicit orders are given over rational and ruled surfaces. This extends work in [\textit{D. Chan} and \textit{C. Ingalls}, Invent.\ Math. 161, 427--452 (2005; Zbl 1078.14005) and \textit{D.\ Chan} and \textit{R.\ Kulkarni}, J. Lond. Math. Soc. 72, 571--584 (2005; Zbl 1093.14003)].
