New wave-breaking criteria for the Fornberg-Whitham equation (Q2656296)

This paper studies mainly the breakdown of the strong solutions to Cauchy Problem for the Fornberg-Whitham equation. The author proposes two types of conditions on the initial data and show that either of them can lead to the breakdown of the solutions. To this end, he proves the blow-up of solutions to a class of Riccati-type inequalities and introduces suitable quantities for solutions that satisfy the mentioned Riccati type inequalities. In the final part, the author also establishes the breakdown results on the strong solution for Degasperis-Procesi equation and \(\mu-\)Degasperis-Procesi equation in the same way.
