The author of the paper under review has defined the concept of a rigid abstract group in [Algebra Logic 47, No.~6, 426--434 (2008; Zbl 1245.20035); translation from Algebra Logika 47, No.~6, 762--776 (2008)], thereby spawning a considerable literature. Extending the definition to general pro-\(p\) groups appears difficult, but this can be done for metabelian pro-\(p\) groups. Such a group \(G\) is said to be rigid if there is a normal subgroup \(G_{2}\) such that \(A = G/G_{2}\) is torsion-free abelian, and \(G_{2}\) is torsion-free as a \({\mathbb Z}_{p} A\)-module, where \({\mathbb Z}\) is the ring of \(p\)-adic integers. If \(G\) is non-abelian, \(G_{2}\) is uniquely determined. The goal of the paper under review is to give a profinite analogue of the following result. An abstract rigid group can be completed to a divisible group \(G\); in the metabelian case \(A\) will be a torsion-free divisible abelian group, and \(G_{2}\) a divisible \({\mathbb Z} A\)-module. The main result is a description of the coordinate groups of irreducible algebraic sets over a partially divisible topological group.
