The author studies piecewise linear embeddings of finite graphs in \(E^ 3\) and eight equivalence relations on them, ranging from ambient isotopic (the strongest, which he shows implies all the others) to \(Z_ 2\)- homologous (the weakest, implied by any of the others) and ranging through cobordant, isotopic, \(I\)-equivalent, homotopic, weakly homotopic and homologous. Some invariants of these equivalence classes are discussed in this paper, others in papers to appear elsewhere.
