    One of the main tools in the numerical study of two-parameter families of one-dimensional maps is the drawing of curves in parameter space corresponding to the existence of superstable periodic orbits. We use kneading theory to describe the structure of these sets of curves for the case of maps with at most two turning points. Then we explain how the bifurcation structure hangs on this ``skeleton''.
