    Given a sequence \(a_n> 0\), define \({\mathcal J}\psi(n)= a_{n-1}\psi(n-1)+ a_n\psi(n+1)\) for any function \(\psi: \mathbb{N}\to\mathbb{C}\), \(\psi(0)= a_0=0\) with \({\mathcal D}{\mathcal J}= \{\psi\in l^2:{\mathcal J}\psi\in l^2\}\) and \({\mathcal J}\) self-adjoint. If \(a_n= n^p+ c_n> 0\), \(n\in\mathbb{N}\) with \(0< p\leq 1\) and \(c_n\) is periodic with period 2, then \({\mathcal J}\) is self-adjoint. Moreover, the spectral measure of \({\mathcal J}\) is absolutely continuous in \(sp_{ac}({\mathcal J})= \mathbb{R}\setminus(- |c_1- c_2|,|c_1- c_2|)\) and \(sp_{ess}\cap(-|c_1- c_2|,|c_1- c_2|)= \emptyset\). This result illustrates the kind of results the authors aimed for.
