The paper under review studies a modified form \(\widetilde H\) of the Ariki-Koike algebra \(H\) over an integral domain. The authors construct a cellular basis of \(\widetilde H\) and use \(\widetilde H\) to obtain some estimates on the decomposition numbers of the orginal Ariki-Koike algebra \(H\). Note that in the paper by \textit{J. Hu} and \textit{F. Stoll} [J. Algebra 275, No. 1, 397-418 (2004; Zbl 1092.20006)], it was shown that the modified Ariki-Koike algebra \(\widetilde H\) is isomorphic to a direct sum of some matrix algebras over tensor products of certain type \(A\) Hecke algebras.
