Let \(A\) be in the space \(L(H, K)\) of all adjointable operators between Hilbert \(C^*\)-modules \(H, K\) and let \(M \in L(K)\) and \(N \in L(H)\) be two positive definite operators. Clearly, \(\langle x,y\rangle_M=\langle x,My\rangle\) defines a complete \(C^*\)-inner product on \(K\). One may investigate the general properties of this new inner product. For example, \(T^\#=N^{-1}T^*M\) is the adjoint of \(T\in L(H_N, K_M)\). The weighted Moore-Penrose inverse \(A^\dagger_{MN}\) (if it exists) is the element \(X \in L(K, H)\) satisfying \(AXA = A, XAX = X, (MAX)^* = MAX, (NXA)^*= NXA\). The authors investigate some properties of \(A^\dagger_{MN}\). If \(A=(A_{ij})\) is a \(1 \times 2\) or \(2 \times 2\) partitioned matrix, then they obtain the general representations for \(A^\dagger_{MN}\) in terms of the individual blocks of \(A_{ij}\). In the case when \(A\) is \(1 \times 2\) partitioned, a unified representation for \(A^\dagger_{MN}\) is presented. In the \(2 \times 2\) partitioned case, an approach to the construction of the Moore-Penrose inverse from the non-weighted case to the weighted case is provided. A general expression for \(A^\dagger\) can be found in [\textit{J.-M. Miao}, Linear Algebra Appl. 151, 1--15 (1991; Zbl 0723.15004)].
