The authors study the problem of computing the variational limit, in the sense of \(\Gamma\)-convergence, of the family of nonconvex variational integrals of the calculus of variations in the setting of metric measure spaces. They give some applications to relaxation and homogenization. In particular, the authors are concerned with homogenization of variational integrals in Cheeger-Sobolev spaces. Note, that the interest of considering a general measure is that its support can model a hyperelastic structure together with its singularities like, for example, thin dimensions, corners, junctions, etc. Such mechanical singular objects often lead to develop calculus of variations in the setting of metric measure spaces.
