Twisted vertex representations and spin characters (Q1601728)

The authors establish a new group-theoretic realization of the basic representations of the twisted affine and twisted toroidal algebras in the same spirit of their new approach to the McKay correspondence [cf. \textit{I. B. Frenkel} and the authors, Int. Math. Res. Not. 2000, No. 4, 195--222 (2000; Zbl 1011.17020), Duke Math. J. 111, No. 1, 51--96 (2000; Zbl 1100.17501)]. Their vertex operator construction provides a unified description to the character tables for the spin cover of the wreath product of the twisted hyperoctahedral groups and an arbitrary finite group.
