Among the phenomena of interest in nucleate boiling at a solid surface is the enhanced heat transfer that takes place with the onset of such boiling. Vapour bubbles grow and collapse at the solid with a life time of the order of a millisecond or less. The analysis of the dynamics of such vapour bubbles is important for understanding of the physical mechanism of the increased heat transfer from a hot solid to a liquid in nucleate boiling conditions. A calculation of the boundary layer thickness due to a constant point sink is required to estimate the microlayer thickness for a collapsing bubble. The steady boundary layer flow field for a point sink on a plane has been studied earlier. The aim of the present investigation is to extend the analysis to include the effects of magnetic field, heat transfer and mass flux diffusion. The governing equations have been solved numerically. The results have been compared with the available results.
