    Dies ist der vollständigste Bericht über die interessanten Verhandlungen. Was \textit{Klein} in Deutschland erstrebt, sucht \textit{Perry} in England im möglichst engen Anschluß an das praktische Leben und unter weitem Ausschluß des Fachlehrertums durchzusetzen. Der Idealismus beider Männer findet in dem realen Leben Hemmnisse; sie setzen ideale Lehrer voraus, die auch ohne sie das Richtige tun würden. ``Ein überraschender Umstand ist der, daß viele Lehrer keine Individualität, keine Originalität haben, oder nicht einmal die Fähigkeit, selber selbständig zu denken. Das Prinzip, nach welchem wir arbeiten, scheint uns ganz einfach, und sie meinen es zu befolgen; in Wirklichkeit verstehen sie es aber nicht besser, als der Durchschnitts-Muhammedaner den christlichen Glauben versteht.''
