The authors characterize warped product manifolds \(M\times _{f} I\) and \(I\times _{f} M\) with a one dimensional manifold \(I\) which are Einstein manifolds with respect to a semi-symmetric metric connection. The concept of a semi-symmetric connection was introduced and studied already in the twenties and thirties of the previous century. More recently, these connections were studied by K. Yano and T. Imai, see references in the paper. Einstein warped product manifolds were investigated by \textit{A. Gȩbarowski} in [Tensor, New Ser. 52, No. 3, 204--207 (1993; Zbl 0816.53028)]. The main two theorems (Theorems 5.1 and 5.2) are the consequence of technical lemmas of Section 4 where every detailed formulas relating the curvature, Ricci curvature and scalar curvature of the Levi-Civita connection and the semi-symmetric metric connection of a warped product Riemannian manifold are presented.
