The authors consider the Cauchy problem for the drift-diffusion equation in \(\mathbb R^n\). The dissipation is described by a fractional partial differential operator. Local and global existence and uniqueness of a solution are studied for small and large initial data. The possibility of a blow-up in finite time is proven for large initial data.
