The limit \(\phi\) of the Koenig sequence \(\{\phi_n\}=\{f^n/f'(0)^n\}\) (not explicitly given in the paper), where \(f\) is a complex valued analytic function on a neighbourhood of 0 and \(f(0)=0<| f'(0)|<1,\) is the unique analytic solution of the Schröder equation \(\phi[f(z)]=f'(0)f(z).\) Here \(f^n\) is the \(n\)-th iterate of \(f.\) If \(f\) is just in \(C^{1+\epsilon}\) for some \(\epsilon>0\) then \(\phi_n\) converges uniformly on a neighbourhood of 0 to a \(\phi\in C^1\) with \(\phi'(0)=1.\) Extending their previous result [Real Anal. Exch. 25, 205--221 (2000; Zbl 1015.39005)] and that of \textit{O. E. Lanford III} (no reference given), the authors offer examples that \(f\in C^1\) is not enough. Furthermore sufficient conditions are offered for \(\{\phi_n\}\) to converge uniformly on a neighbourhood of 0 to \(\phi\) with \(\phi'(0)=1,\) while under weaker assumptions either \(\phi'(0)=1\) or \(\phi=0\) on a neighbourhood of 0.
