For \(G\) a compact Lie group, \(A(G)\) the Burnside ring and \(U(G)\) the Euler ring of \(G\), constructed as in [\textit{T. Tom Dieck}, Transformation groups and representation theory. Lecture Notes in Mathematics. 766. Springer (1979; Zbl 0445.57023)], in the main result of the paper the authors describe the homorphism \(\varphi ^{\ast }:U(SO(3))\rightarrow U(SO(2))\) induced by the inclusion \(\varphi :SO(2)\rightarrow SO(3)\). Recalling first some notions from equivariant topology, they give some properties of the Euler ring \(U(G)\) and study in detail (in an appendix) the multiplication in \(A(SO(3)),U(SO(3))\). Remarks and open questions are given such as: ``What is the characterization of the invertible elements in \(U(G)\)?''
