Extending known results substantially the author proves the following three beautiful theorems. Suppose that \(f\) maps the \(d\)-dimensional rational space \(Q^d\) into itself. I. If \(f\) preserves distance \(\sqrt{2}\), then it must be an isometry, provided \(d\) is even and \(d\geq 6\), or \(d= 4k^2- 1\), for \(k\geq 2\). II. Preserving again distance \(\sqrt{2}\), \(f\) must preserve distance 2, provided \(d\geq 5\). III. If \(f\) preserves distances 1 and \(\sqrt{2}\), it must be an isometry, provided \(d\geq 5\).
