The author studies the algebra \({\mathbb{Z}}_ 2[x_ 0,x_ 1,...]\) on a countable family of degree 1 generators, turned into an unstable left module over the mod 2 Steenrod algebra by specifying that \(Sq^ 1\) on a generator should be the square of the previous generator. Limits of families of submodules have been studied by \textit{H. Miller} [Ann. Math., II. Ser. 120, 39-87 (1984; Zbl 0552.55014)] and dual limits have been studied by \textit{G. Carlsson} [Topology 22, 83-103 (1983; Zbl 0504.55011)]. If the same ring is made into a module by requiring that \(Sq^ 1\) on a generator be the square of the next generator, then the module splits into a sum of modules \(Y_ f\) whose duals are the (right) modules \(G_ f\). The main purpose of this paper is to prove some interesting results on the projective dimension of modules of this sort. Unfortunately, the results - as well as proofs - are too technical to be discussed here.
