Mackey functors have been introduced by \textit{J.~A.~Green} [J. Pure Appl. Algebra 1, 41-77 (1971; Zbl 0249.20005)] and \textit{A.~W.~M.~Dress} [Lect. Notes Math. 342, 183-240 (1973; Zbl 0331.18016)], and have an important role in unifying various concepts in the representation theory of finite groups. \textit{J.~Thévenaz} and \textit{P.~Webb} [Trans. Am. Math. Soc. 347, No. 6, 1865-1961 (1995; Zbl 0834.20011)] proved that the category of Mackey functors of the finite group \(G\) over the commutative ring \(R\) is isomorphic to the category of modules over the Mackey algebra \(\mu_R(G)\). Recall that \(\mu_R(G)=R\otimes_\mathbb{Z}\mu_\mathbb{Z}(G)\), where \(\mu_\mathbb{Z}(G)\) is the ring generated by the elements \(r^K_H\), \(t^K_H\) and \(c^g_H\), for \(H\leq K\leq H\) and \(g\in G\), subject to a number of natural relations. Let \(N\) be a normal subgroup of the finite group \(G\), and let \(1_N\) be the unity of \(\mu_R(N)\). Then \(\mu_R(N)\) is a non-unital subalgebra of \(\mu_R(G)\), and \(1_N\mu_R(G)1_N\) is a crossed product of \(G/H\) over \(\mu_R(N)\). Based on this observation, the author proves Mackey functor versions of Clifford's theorem, the Clifford correspondence, Fong's theorem, Green's indecomposability theorem, and other related results.
