The Ginzburg-Landau \(\nabla\varphi\) interface model is a model of the time evolution of a continuous spin system on a \(d\)-dimensional lattice. The configuration \(\varphi\) is interpreted as an effective modelization of a \(d+1\)-dimensional interface which separates two different phases, and their dynamics is governed by a Langevin equation associated with massless Hamiltonian. The hydrodynamic limit for this model was initially obtained by the author and \textit{H. Spohn} [Commun. Math. Phys. 185, 1-36 (1997; Zbl 0884.58098)]. In this paper, the author studies the hydrodynamic limit for the Ginzburg-Landau \(\nabla\varphi\) interface model on a hard wall under periodic boundary conditions. By adding a local time term with strong repelling effect by a wall and a drift term with a mild pinning effect to the original Ginzburg-Landau \(\nabla\varphi\) dynamics, the dynamics with a hard wall effect is given by a system of stochastic differential equations of Skorokhod type. The author proves that the limit equation of the scaled macroscopic height variables on a wall is given by a nonlinear PDE with reflection which is formulated as an evolutionary variational inequality (EVI). The existence and uniqueness of the solution for the EVI are also proved. As the strategy of the proof, the author studies hydrodynamic limits for the dynamics on a suitable soft wall which are obtained by replacing the singular drift term by non-singular drift. Then, he proves that the hydrodynamic limit equations of such dynamics converge to the EVI. The comparison theorem for the SDEs with a soft wall and the original SDE with a hard wall plays a crucial role in the argument. The equilibrium fluctuation problem for the \(1+1\)-dimensional interface on a hard wall with Dirichlet boundary conditions has been studied by the author and \textit{S. Olla} [Stochastic Processes Appl. 94, 1-27 (2001)].
