The Feynman identity for a planar graph is an important tool to deal with combinatorics in the two-dimensional Ising model. It was conjectured by Feynman and proved by Sherman in the sixties. Sherman also noticed that in some special case it has some analogies with the Witt identity used in the Lie algebras. The author works out this algebraic interpretation, by using the Kach-Ward transition matrix.
