The authors introduce and study the notion of one-sided cliquishness for a function \(f:{\mathbb R}\to Y,\) where \(Y\) is a metric space with metric \(d:\) \(f\) is said to be right-sidedly (left-sidedly) cliquish at \(x\) if for all \(\delta, \epsilon>0,\) there is a nonempty open set \(U\subseteq (x,x+\delta)\) (resp. \(U\subseteq (x-\delta, x)\)) such that \(d(f(x'), f(x''))<\epsilon\) for all \(x',x''\in U.\) The sets of right-sided (left-sided) cliquishness are denoted by \(A^+(f)\) (\(A^-(f)\)). They prove that the sets \(A^+(f)\setminus A^-(f)\) and \(A^-(f)\setminus A^+(f)\) are countable, and they are able to characterize the sets \(A^+(f)\) and \(A^-(f)\) in terms of the generalized, one-sided oscillations \(w^+(f,x),\) \(w^-(f,x)\), introduced by \textit{J. Borsik} [Real Anal. Exch. 19, No. 2, 529--536 (1994; Zbl 0807.26002)]; as a matter of fact, they show that \(A^+(f)=\{x\in{\mathbb R}: w^+(f,x)=0\},\) and \(A^-(f)=\{x\in{\mathbb R}: w^-(f,x)=0\}.\) In the last section they consider a sequence \(\{f_n\}_n\) which converges quasi-uniformly to the function \(f\). They prove that \(\limsup A^+(f_n)\subseteq A^+(f)\subseteq\liminf A^+(f_n),\) and \(\limsup A^-(f_n)\subseteq A^-(f)\subseteq\liminf A^+(f_n).\) Moreover, they show that the sequence of functions \(\{w^+(f_n, \cdot)\}_n\) (respectively, \(\{w^-(f_n, \cdot)\}_n\)) are quasi-uniformly convergent to the function \(w^+(f, \cdot)\) (\(w^-(f, \cdot)\)).
