To address the presence of a self-consistent electromagnetic field in the model for a collisional plasma, it is necessary to extend the standard framework of the Vlasov-Poisson-Fokker-Planck system (VPFK) by introducing a coupling with Maxwell equations. The rigorous results here are preliminary and refer to a global-in-time existence and uniqueness of solutions when the system is near a Maxwellian. Most of the available analysis is based on numerical methods, basically in low (e.g., two) dimensions. The present paper extends numerically assisted observations on the two-dimensional VPFK system [\textit{S. Wollman} and \textit{E. Ozizmir}, J. Comput. Phys. 228, No. 18, 6629--6669 (2009; Zbl 1175.82060)] by combining it with Maxwell equations. An asymptotic behavior of solutions is investigated and a convergence to steady state solutions established. The asymptotic outcome coincides with that previously obtained for the VPFK equations.
