Let \(L\) be a finite complete commutative subspace lattice on a complex separable Hilbert space \(H\) and let \(\text{alg}(L)\) be the subalgebra of \(B(H)\) (the Banach algebra of all continuous linear operators on \(H\)) consisting of the operators which leave every member of \(L\) invariant. The authors show that every continuous linear mapping \(\phi:\text{alg}(L)\rightarrow B(H)\) with the property that \(\phi(ST)=\phi(S)T+S\phi(T)-S\phi(I)T\) for all \(S,T\in\text{alg}(L)\) with \(ST=0\) (such a mapping is said to be a generalized derivable mapping at zero point) necessarily satisfies that property for all \(S,T\in\text{alg}(L)\).
