Some numerical invariants of hyperelliptic fibrations (Q2277047)

One gives inequalities, from below and from above, for the topological index \(i_{top}(X)=(1/3)(c_ 1(X)^ 2-2c_ 2(X))\) of a smooth surface X which admits a hyperelliptic fibration of genus \(g\) over a smooth compact curve. This generalizes the result of K. Ueno and G. Xiao about the non-positivity of \(i_{top}(X)\), in the case \(g=2\).
