Whereas numerous counter-examples to the Hasse principles among hypersurfaces are classically known, it is a much more challenging task to produce families where each member is such a counter-example. In the paper under review, the author considers this problem for forms of degree \(4n\). In particular, he exhibits such families explicitly for \(n=12\) and \(n=24\) and shows that method can be extended to more general cases. The failure of the Hasse principle in his examples is detected by the Brauer-Manin obstruction.
