It is well known that an open subset \(U\) of \(\mathbb {C}^n\) is pseudoconvex if and only if the cohomology group \(H^1(U,I)\) vanishes for all affine complex lines \(L\), where \(I\) denotes the sheaf of holomorphic functions on \(U\) vanishing on \(U \cap L\). The author shows that this cohomological characterization remains true in infinite dimensional complex analysis (more precisely, in the framework of Banach spaces with an unconditional basis). The proof is based on an exhaustion of \(U\) by sets of type (B), introduced by \textit{L. Lempert} [Invent. Math. 142, No. 3, 579--603 (2000; Zbl 0983.32010)]. We have on these sets Runge-type approximations for holomorphic sections of certain analytic sheaves, which allow us the passage to the limit. Also, the author shows that unlike in several complex variables, the vanishing assumption on the cohomology groups \(H^q(U,O)\) for \(q \geq 1\) does not imply the pseudoconvexity of \(U\). He gives finally an interpolation result along a sequence of points converging to the ``ideal'' boundary of \(U\).
