The author considers a strictly hyperbolic system of conservation laws in one space dimension and studies the viscous wave fan admissibility criteria of Riemann solutions. In particular, the cases of structurally unstable Riemann solutions are investigated. Based on results of bifurcation theory for dynamical systems the author proves that such solutions admit viscous wave fun profiles.
