Let \(d(n)\) be the number of positive divisors of \(n\) and \[ \Delta(x) = \sum_{n\leq x}d(n) - x(\log x + 2\gamma -1), \] where \(\gamma = -\Gamma'(1)\) is Euler's constant. The authors obtain several interesting results on the analytic continuation and the order estimates for the Dirichlet series \[ Y(s) : = \sum_{n=1}^\infty d(n)\Delta(n)n^{-s},\quad {\tilde \Delta}_j(s) : = \sum_{n=1}^\infty {\tilde \Delta}^j(n)n^{-s}\quad(j=1,2), \] where \({\tilde \Delta}(n) = \Delta(n) - {1\over2}d(n) - {1\over4}\). The function \(Y(s)\) is absolutely convergent for \(\sigma = \text{Re}\,s > 5/4\), but can be continued analytically to \(\text{Re}\,s > -1/3\) as a meromorphic function. In the region \(\text{Re}\,s \geq 1/2\) it has a simple pole at \(s=1/2\) and a pole of order four at \(s=1\), and the authors furnish the Laurent expansion of \(Y(s)\) at these poles. The function \({\tilde \Delta}_1(s)\) is absolutely convergent for \(\text{Re}\,s > 5/4\), and \({\tilde \Delta}_2(s)\) for \(\text{Re}\,s > 3/2\), and in Corollary 1 the authors discuss in detail their analytic behaviour. Theorems 2 and 3 yield results on the order of \(Y(s)\) and \(D_2(s) = \sum_{n=1}^\infty \Delta^2(n)n^{-s}\). As an application of their methods they also study the analytic continuation of certain multiple zeta functions.
