Any compact Kähler submanifold of \(\mathbb{C} P^m(1)\) with sectional curvature \(K>1/8\) is, according to \textit{A. Ros} and \textit{L. Verstraelen} [J. Differ. Geom. 19, 561-566 (1984; Zbl 0535.53045)], totally geodesic. A similar result was obtained by \textit{C. Xia} [Geom. Dedicata 54, 103-112 (1995; Zbl 0835.53067)]\ in the case of totally complex submanifolds of quaternion projective space \(\mathbb{H} P^m(1)\). The present paper proves that any compact totally complex submanifold \(M\) of complex dimension 2, immersed in the Cayley projective plane \(CaP^2\), with sectional curvature \(K>1/8\), is totally geodesic in \(CaP^2\) and \(M=\mathbb{C} P^2\).
