The authors investigate the algebraic sums of subsets of the real line. They give a nice example of a \(G_{\delta}\) set \(G\) and a compact set \(P\) such that \(G+P\) is not Borel. They prove also two theorems concerning invariant \(\sigma\)-ideals \(\mathcal J\) with coanalytic bases and \(\sigma\)-fields generated by Borel sets and sets from \(\mathcal J\). The first one generalizes the result of \textit{J. Brzuchowski, J. Cichoń, E. Grzegorek} and \textit{C. Ryll-Nardzewski} [Bull. Acad. Pol. Sci., Sér. Sci. Math. 27, 447--448 (1979; Zbl 0433.28001)]. The second one is similar to the result of \textit{A. Kharazishvili} [Real Anal. Exch. 21, No. 2, 715--724 (1995; Zbl 0879.28026)].
