In this paper it is proposed a single-scalar PDF-CMC (SSPDF-CMC) method to simulate turbulent non-premixed methane-air combustion. Comparisons with other methods are also provided in the paper. The examples given by the authors show that the predictions given by the SSPDF model are in better agreement with the measurement data than those offered by the PDF-\(\kappa\)-\(\varepsilon\)-\(g\) model used in the conventional CMC model. It is also argued that the predicted radial profiles of Favre-averaged temperature and mass fractions of O\(_2\) and CH\(_4\) show that the CMC model give only qualitative agreement with the experiments, while the SSPDF-CMC model improves its qualitative agreements with the experiments.
