The author considers the Bayesian decision problem for a multistage setting of a clinical trial in which patients receive one of two medical treatments. Results are given for the case when the number of stages is fixed and the total number of patients is unknown. All theorems are proved. The consistency between given mathematical assumptions and medical ethic is discussed.
