It is shown that a generic hypersurface of degree \(d\geq 5\) in \(\mathbb P^ 3\) or \(\mathbb P^ 4\) does not contain a reduced and irreducible divisor which admits a desingularization having numerically effective anticanonical bundle. In particular, it gives a different proof of a conjecture of \textit{J. Harris}, first proven by \textit{G. Xu}, which says that there are neither rational nor elliptic curves on a generic surface of degree \(d \geq 5\) in \(\mathbb P^ 3\). The result also gives positive sign to the Clemens' conjecture, which states there are only finite number of rational curves of given degree on a generic quintic threefold.
