The differential equation solver STRIDE developed by the author, \textit{K. Burrage} and \textit{F. H. Chipman} [BIT 20, 326-340 (1980; Zbl 0456.65040)] can be modified to make it useful in solving delay differential equations. The modification procedure is discussed with reference to an example provided. Work is continuing to adapt the procedure to neutral type equations.
