Explicit theorems on generator polynomials (Q2566172)

This is an excellent survey of the past ten years' work on special polynomials over finite fields, such as irreducible, primitive or normal polynomials. There is the question of the existence of such polynomials, typically with constraints on the degree, coefficients or congruence classes. There are formulas for the number of such polynomials and explicit constructions. The extensive bibliography is itself a useful contribution.
