    The author considers the functional-differential equation \(y'(t)= a(t) y(t- r(t,y))\) for \(t\in [0,\infty)\), where \(a\) is a continuous and bounded real function, with a continuous initial function \(\Phi: [t_ 0- \tau,t_ 0]\to \mathbb{R}\), \(\tau\geq 0\), \(t_ 0\geq 0\). It is assumed that \(r(t,y)\in [0,\tau]\) for \(t\geq t_ 0\), \(y= y(t)\). Two theorems on the existence of solutions on \([t_ 0-\tau,\infty)\) and asymptotic formulas for these solutions are given.
