The aim of the paper is to study an algebraic deformation theory for Leibniz algebra morphisms. For this, the deformation complex of a Leibniz algebra morphism is introduced. The analogues of the basic notions of deformation theory of the algebraic structures and the associated morphisms, originally due to Gerstenhaber, are described in the frame of Leibniz algebras morphisms. For example, equivalent deformations and rigidity are studied. Finally, the problem of realizing a 2-cocylce as the infinitesimal of a deformation is considered.
