Consider the Hilbert space \(l^2(X)\otimes K\), where \(X\) is a countable set on which a group \(\Gamma\) acts by permutation and \(K\) is an auxiliary Hilbert space. The paper considers bounded operators of the form \(H=H_0\otimes I+V\), here \(H_0\) acts on \(l^2(X)\) and is \(\Gamma\)-invariant, in the sense that \(H_0(\gamma x,\gamma y)=H_0(x,y)\) for all \(\gamma\in \Gamma\) and all \(x,y\in X\), where \(H_0(x,y)\) is the infinite matrix associated with \(H_0\). It is assumed that the spectrum \(H_0\) is known. The operator \(V\) is of the form \((Vf)(x)=V(x)f(x)\), where \(V(x)\in {\mathcal M}\subset {\mathcal L}\) for all \(x\in X\). Some general theorems about the spectral properties of the operator \(H=H_0+V\), where \(V\) is \((\Gamma,{\mathcal M})\) pseudo-ergodic, are proved. The obtained results are applied to study a more detailed spectral analysis of a non-self-Anderson model acting on \(l^2(\mathbb{Z})\). Precise conditions are found under which zero almost surely lies in the spectrum. The author obtains further results on the location of the spectrum which come close to a complete determination in many cases. Some aspects of the resolvent norms of pseudo-ergodic operators are studied and the resolvent norm of the non-self-adjoint Anderson model at the point \(z=0\) is calculated. It is also considered the possibility that there may be constraints on the pair of values of the potential at two neighbouring points of the Anderson model.
