The initial value problem to the system \(u_{tt}-\Delta u=| v| ^p\), \(v_{tt}-\Delta v=| u| ^q\) in \(\mathbb {R}^n\times (0,\infty )\) is considered. \textit{D. Del Santo, V. Georgiev} and \textit{E. Mitidieri} [in: Geometrical optics and related topics. Selected papers of the meeting, Cortona, Italy, September 1996. Boston, MA: Birkhäuser. Prog. Nonlinear Differ. Equ. Appl. 32, 117--140 (1997; Zbl 0893.35066)] showed that the problem has a global-in-time solution for sufficiently small initial data for \(F(p,q,n)<0\), while the solution blows up in a finite time for some positive initial data and for \(F(p,q,n)>0\), where \(F(p,q,n)=\max (\frac {q+2+p^{-1}}{pq-1},\frac {p+2+q^{-1}}{pq-1})-\frac {n-1}{2}\). Using the argument of the paper [\textit{H. Takamura} and \textit{K. Wakasa}, J. Differ. Equations 251, No. 4--5, 1157--1171 (2011; Zbl 1230.35069)] the authors give the upper bound of the lifespan to the above problem for small non-negative initial data with compact supports in the case of \(F(p,q,n)=0\).
