The authors study systems of differential equations of the form \[ x'=f(x)+g(x)|y|^2,\quad y'=h(x)y+\gamma\exp(i\alpha t)a(\beta t), \] where \(x\in{\mathbb R}^n\) and \(y\in{\mathbb C}\). For example, such systems model self-pulsating lasers under the influence of external periodically modulated optical signals. It is assumed that the nonperturbed system (with \(\gamma=0\)) has an exponentially orbitally stable quasi-periodic solution of modulated wave type. The authors describe the behavior of modulated wave solutions in the case when the difference \(\beta-\beta_0\) between the internal and external modulation frequencies is small while the difference \(\alpha -\alpha_0\) between the internal and external wave frequencies is large.
