Let \(f:M \to M\) be a \(C^{1+\alpha}\) diffeomorphism, \(\alpha >0\), on a compact smooth orientable manifold \(M\) of dimension 2, and let \(\mu_\phi\) be an equilibrium state for a Hölder continuous potential \(\phi\) on \(M\). The author shows that, if \(\mu_\phi\) has positive measure-theoretic entropy, then \(f\) is measure-theoretically isomorphic (mod \(\mu_\phi\)) to the product between a Bernoulli scheme and a finite rotation.
