The paper further develops the theory of derivators and stable derivators, clearly providing many helpful and interesting computational results. This work builds directly on [\textit{M. Groth}, Algebr. Geom. Topol. 13, No. 1, 313--374 (2013; Zbl 1266.55009)]. Among other things, in Section 5, we learn of three types of stability of a pointed derivator, and then find in Theorem 7.1 that they are equivalent. This is shown using the main theorem of the paper, 6.1, which proves the existence of Mayer-Vietoris sequences, arising from cocartesian squares, in any cofiber-stable derivator. The paper includes an appendix on the calculus of mates. Derivators, first introduced by Grothendieck, Franke, and Heller, are a worthwhile cousin in the family of axiomatizations of homotopy theory. Every Quillen model category gives rise to a derivator, and any stable model category gives rise to a stable derivator. Every complete and cocomplete \((\infty,1)\)-category yields a derivator, and this is a stable \((\infty,1)\)-category if and only if the derivator is stable. Furthermore, every strong stable derivator has an underlying triangulated category. As the authors state in the introduction, ``among these choices, derivators are a convenient level of generality because they are better-behaved than triangulated categories, while requiring less technical machinery than model categories or \((\infty,1)\)-categories.''
