Subsets \(E,F\) of \(\mathbb{R}^d\) are called Lipschitz equivalent if there is a bijection \(f:E\to F\) with a constant \(C>0\) for which \(C| x-y|\leq| f(x)-f(y)|\leq C| x-y|\) for all \(x,y\in E\); this notion of equivalence preserves many (fractal-)geometric properties of well-behaved sets. Here this equivalence is studied for dust-like self-similar sets, and it is shown that a directional growth function of a higher-dimensional Frobenius problem associated to such sets is an invariant of Lipschitz equivalence. These ideas are used to characterize Lipschitz equivalence in the case of dust-like self-similar sets with coplanar ratios. This answers in part a question raised by \textit{K. J. Falconer} and \textit{D. T. Marsh} [Mathematika 39, No. 2, 223--233 (1992; Zbl 0791.28006)].
