The paper under review deals with the uniqueness problems for meromorphic mappings into complex projective spaces \(\mathbb{P}^n(\mathbb{C})\), and the authors give an affirmative answer to a problem proposed by \textit{H. Fujimoto} [Nagoya Math. J. 152, 131--152 (1998; Zbl 0937.32010)] in some cases. Let \(f: \mathbb{C}^m\to \mathbb{P}^n(\mathbb{C})\) be a linearly nondegenerate meromorphic mapping and \(H_1,\dots, H_q\) hyperplanes in general position in \(\mathbb{P}^n(\mathbb{C})\). We denote by \(\nu_{(f,H_j)}(z)\) the intersection multiplicity of the image of \(f\) and \(H_j\). For a positive integer \(k\) or \(+\infty\), set \({\nu_{(f,H_j)}}^{k)}(z)= 0\) if \(\nu_{(f,H_j)}(z)> k\) and \({\nu_{(f,H_j)}}^{k)}(z)= \nu_{(f,H_j)}(z)\) if \(\nu_{(f,H_j)}(z)\leq k\). Assume that \(\dim\{z: {\nu_{(f,H_i)}}^{k)}(z)> 0\) and \({\nu_{(f,H_j)}}^{k)}> 0\}\leq m-2\). For a positive integer \(p\), denote by \(F_k(\{H_j\}^q_{j=1}f, p)\) the set of all linearly nondegenerate meromorphic mappings \(g: \mathbb{C}^m\to \mathbb{P}^n(\mathbb{C})\) satisfying \(\min\{{\nu_{(f,H_i)}}^{k)}(z), p\}= \min\{{\nu_{(f,H_i)}}^{k)}(z), p\}\) and \(g= f\) on \(\bigcup^q_{j=1} \{z:{\nu_{(f, H_j)}}^{k)}> 0\}\). Then, in the above cited paper, H. Fujimoto proved that \(F_{+\infty}(\{H_j\}^{3n+1}_{j=1}, f,2)\) contains at most two mappings, and proposed a problem asking if the number \(q= 3n+ 1\) can be replaced by a smaller one. The main result in the present paper shows the number \(q= 3n+ 1\) in fact can be replaced by a smaller one in some cases and generalized Fujimoto's theorem. The authors also obtain a theorem that improves truncating multiplicities. For related topics, see \textit{D. D. Thai} and \textit{S. D. Quang} [Int. J. Math. 17, 1223--1257 (2006; see the following review Zbl 1117.32014)].
