On a class of Danielewski surfaces in affine 3-space (Q1021433)

The authors study surfaces of the form \(x^nz-Q(x,y)\) where \(n\geq 2\). They characterise which ones are Danielewski surfaces and compute their automorphism groups. They embed them into the affine 3-space, and show that the automorphisms of the surface in general are not the restriction of an automorphism of the affine 3-space. They also give examples of \({\mathbb C}^*\)-actions on a surface in affine 3-space (over \({\mathbb C}\)) which is the restriction of a holomorphic automorphism, but not of an algebraic automorphism.
