The relationship between dynamics of the iteration of rational maps and the properties of their moduli spaces have been investigated since the work of \textit{C. McMullen} [Ann. Math. (2) 125, 467--493 (1987; Zbl 0634.30028)]. In this work the authors study the family of Newton maps of cubic polynomials \[ z\mapsto N_P(z)= z-\frac{P(z)}{P'(z)}, \] namely those rational maps whose iterations provide the Newton-Raphson method for finding the roots of polynomials \(P\). Although it is known that the Newton-Raphson method applied to a cubic polynomial does not generally converges to a root, the stability and bifurcations of the family of {all} Newton maps \(\{N_P; P\in \mathbb{C} [z],\;\deg(P)=3\}\) is not very well understood. For this family the authors prove that the boundary of the unique unbounded hyperbolic component is a Jordan arc and the boundaries of all other hyperbolic components are Jordan curves (an hyperbolic component is roughly speaking a connected component \(U\) of the space \(\{P\in \mathbb{C} [z],\;\deg(P)=3\}\) such that for each \(P\in U\) the map \(N_P(z)\) is hyperbolic).
